So we're just going to not lose challenges right? That seems like a good plan

I'm good at not losing challenges! I'm here for this plan.

I am probably also mediocre at jigsaws. I do them occasionally for fun. But I am def better with them than I am at trying to search the forum for players at least.

My understanding is that these are the valid combinations of non-goalies:
5D, 3M, 2F 5D, 4M, 1F 4D, 3M, 3F 4D, 4M, 2F 4D, 5M, 1F 3D, 4M, 3F 3D, 5M, 2F 3D, 6M, 1F *assuming AL, AC, AR are midfielders

Questions: 1. What is strength? Number between 1-100? 2. Will players' positions be presented as well? If so, where? What possible notations of those positions, if any, besides GK, CB, LB, RB, CDM, CAM, CM, LM, RM, ST, RW, LW might be used? 3. If someone posts an invalid jigsaw puzzle and attempts to claim a player, will mods call them as such in the the thread during the challenge?

I guess we'll get a better idea of what to aim for as we go along anyway.
I'd definitely be better at searching the forum than at Jigsaws, though I could do Jigsaws if push came to shove.

Hmmm I should be able to escape to post something in an hour, I think I have a plan. A simple one but a plan nonetheless

Okay, so the management part of this should all be about efficiency. We win this challenge simply by having the most strength of our drafted players (note we can draft more players than we use so just having more people is always great). But anyway, our cap space is 3.5 million, with 18 slots that means the average salary we need is roughly $195,000/ player. We don't know the distribution of strength yet, but we do know that our average player costs about $195,000, so we have a start there.
What I think we should do early on is moneyball this game, simply, divide the cost of the player by the strength and go for the player with the lowest cost/strength. I also think in round 1 we should shoot for cheap players, I think at least one team will try and waste a lot of effort going for a big bucks player which should hamstring their later gains, it will also allow us more time to compare the new top dollar players to the old one. As such I think our ideal person in round 1 will cost about 75,000 - 125,000 dollars, which should leave us plenty of cap space later on.
In round 2 I thin we should take a couple average and maybe one big shot player if possible, assuming they are better than our first options or only slightly worse. We don't want to have to reach for a big money player in the last round, that would just be bad. We should also use as much cap space as possible, as otherwise we will likely miss out on a significant amount of strength (near the end we care about pure strength overall, nothing else).
Also, I feel like the best value players are likely to be international ones, but that's just a guess, so we will likely want to maximize how many of those we get.
As for positions, having multiple of something only matters with the 7 on the bench so I'm not too concerned. Just don't go overboard on a single position.
Also depending on how many we have, the person searching the forum should also do some quick calculations to tell us which people we should target with the puzzles, that way the people doing puzzles can just focus on that and not have to do the decision. @mods are we allowed to keep a personal spreadsheet or calculator to check the "value" of players for their strength?

Hey guys,
I just got an advantage as a reward from the Tragedy challenge, I'm allowed to use it on any challenge to make it slightly easier (apparently it's always going to be a fairly weak advantage no matter which challenge I use it on). I'm 100% using it while we're on this tribe unless there's a very sudden swap - the question is, do we use it on this one?
For this challenge, it would give us an above-average player with a relatively low salary right off the bat.

Hey, that's a nice perk. Since none of us have said they're that confident with jigsaw puzzles it could be a good idea, but I also feel like our planning up to this point is pretty quality and I think that bodes well.

Assuming that we have more people available at the time the challenge ends up being at than we have slots to fill, I'd probably like to run drill times on 1-2 jigsaw puzzles to see how fast we are. I've never done them competitively so I don't really know how else I would tell how good I am at them.

Do we know how big the puzzles will be? I have to assume that stronger player=harder puzzle.

www.jigsawplanet.com/?rc=play&pid=372805b53c94Here's a 98 piece one. I'd imagine Ghost Image is allowed? Post your times here (remember to log out of your jigsawplanet account if you have one otherwise it will probably reveal your ID)

8:50 was my time. I think they'll probably be smaller than this in the actual game (although the high statted players might take that long, who knows)

Did you use Ghost Image? I did, it helps a lot with stuff like this (especially when there are a lot of pieces that look quite similar)
