Items items items
Well, I have one! That's one more than I've ever had!
As soon as the game started I checked everything in the Announcements section because we'd been told to read that section thoroughly. The clue was hidden as a hyperlink in Xofelf's avatar in the Headmaster's thread - weirdly, the first link I found, despite the fact that there were apparently a bunch of rickrolls around and about
I had it solved within 15 minutes of game start, which I thought for sure would get me the item... so I was devastated when I just got the reply 'Interesting', because in past games I've played a response like that meant the item was gone.
I told Leon about it after we made our agreement to try to build some trust there. I also told Ibuki later, when we'd had a chance to talk.
...and then I realised I had the word order mixed up when I was looking through the member's list and found a player with the login name @ mom.
Teruteru's Mom, to be precise. I flipped them round and excitedly told Leon and Ibuki that I think I figured it out and that I might still have a chance to get it... and then again, it was wrong. I'm so lucky that neither of them decided to actually attempt to solve it
It's especially funny because after I mentioned it the first time, Ibuki started complaining that in games like this she can never get items and they should be easier to find. If I literally gave you the clue, and you did nothing with it, maybe that's your problem rather than the GMs
Although maybe I'm being harsh there because I was acting like I had the right answer already both times (I thought I did).
I eventually got it right by PMing
Teruteru's Mom saying 'Could I have the item, please?'
And it was the Legacy Advantage. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
If it was an idol (or most types of advantages) I'd have shared the find with Leon and Ibuki to build trust and promised it would be used for the good of all of us. I can't do that with the Legacy Advantage, because instead of it being a 'this person is allied with me and has an advantage they might use on me, if I vote them out I lose the possibility of having the advantage played on me' it's 'this person is allied with me and has an advantage they *might* use on me, but if I successfully blindside them without them realising it, they'll pass it to me and the advantage will *definitely* be used on me.' No good can come of telling allies about an advantage like this, so it has to remain a secret until I use it - which means I had to tell Leon and Ibuki that it was already gone, and I'm not sure whether they believe that.
It sucks, but at the same time, I like the fact that even if something happens to me, I can still help someone I like in this game. Right now that would probably be Shuichi, surprisingly enough (well, maybe not that surprisingly given that if I went home here then it would be because my own tribe turned on me).
One item is good, a pair would be fantastic. There's another clue at the bottom of the homepage that everyone has spotted, I think, but if nobody could figure out the Legacy clue in a day, maybe nobody's figured out this one either? Leon and Ibuki both brought it up and said they think it's a troll but I don't think so. There's too much going on with it.
Who are the people in the gifs? Why are they gifs and not images? Why is the word here not hyperlinked? Why the weird spellings? What's with the weird capitalisation?
I think I have answers to three of those five questions.
The person in the first gif is the Ultimate Akido Master from DRv3. I don't know much about her because I haven't finished DRv3, I'm in the first Class Trial right now and am attempting to race through the game to find out because I don't want to look up the Wiki page.
The person in the second is Peko Pekoyama from DR2 and the third is Kiyotaka Ishimaru from DR1. The similarity between these characters that struck me was that they both have alter egos - Taka transforms after he's been silent for a few days in DR1, and Peko reveals herself as Shining Justice (who I've noticed is a spectator, but I don't think that's the solution). Maybe the Akido Master does too? If not, there's also the ninja-ish similarity between Peko and the Akido girl, but I don't see how that fits with Taka.
My first thought on the gifs was that they might be blinking in morse code, but it seems to be a loop of just two blinks, so I don't think that's the case. I'm honestly stumped on why they're gifs.
The word HERE not being hyperlinked could indicate that there's a fourth character hidden somewhere - specifically one that comes between DR2 and DRv3? I think Another Episode was between those two, but I'm not sure. This one I'm quite uncertain of and I think I need to solve other things and come back to it.
The spelling feels very deliberate. Some of the words (like 'cloo') look like they're just spelled that way to make fun of us for looking, but 'N'? Why would you remove the a? I think this has to be important, and the only thing I can think of is that it's an anagram.
Which would make sense with the capitalisation, too - maybe each capital letter is the start of a word? Unfortunately, I'm terrible at anagrams, but I'm going to see if I can do it anyway.
